Description

The DonJoy Reaction WEB Knee Brace uses a responsive, webbed approach to knee pain that gives you a distinct alternative to the basic knee sleeve. Developed by world renowned orthopedic surgeon, Dr. William Nordt, the DonJoy Reaction WEB can help decrease knee pain and increase function, getting you back to your active lifestyle. The elastomeric web is an innovative solution that absorbs shock, disperses energy and shifts pain away from your knee. This webbing acts to dynamically stabilize the patella (kneecap) on all sides, bringing the patella into proper tracking position to reduce pain. The open framework of the elastomeric web, in combination with the mesh backing, creates a comfortable fit and a breathable solution for relief of anterior knee pain. It's secured with Velcro straps, and weighs only 0.5 lbs. The lightweight design makes this knee brace ideal for all-day use. One undersleeve is included, and is made of 85% nylon/15% spandex. The DonJoy Reaction WEB can be used to treat or prevent the following knee injuries: patellofemoral pain syndrome (PFPS), chondromalacia patella (runner’s knee), quadriceps or patellar tendonitis/tendinosis (jumper’s knee), Osgood-Schlatter disease, general patellar tracking issues and instability, and mild knee osteoarthritis. The DonJoy Reaction WEB is worn by professional snowboarders, volleyball, football players; as well as the U.S. Snowboarding and U.S. Ski teams. Universal fit allows the DonJoy Reaction WEB Knee Brace to be worn on either the left or the right leg.

PROS:• Keeps the Kneecap in Place (better than other braces in my opinion)• Easy to Remove & Tighten - Only Four (4) Velcro Straps• Separate Cloth Sleeve Cover for knee/leg to aid in comfort (and to prevent slippage?)• Material - Rubber+Cloth Material. No Real Metal makes this brace pretty comfortable to wear.• Reputable Brand “DonJoy” = extensive line of durable medical productsCONS:• BROKE within ONE (1) week of receipt & use the Rubber Webbing Broke (only slightly, but imho indicated more to come)• Materials = Non-Metal+Rubber = Not very good for Long Term durability• TOO MUCH MOVEMENT - Range of Motion - Non-Metal Joints on Each Side of Knee allow too much range of motion and not enough ‘sturdy’ structural support.• SLIPPAGE - Brace tends to Slip Up/Down during light movement (standing/walking) = Note: I was using a Size S/XS so smallest available size!• REPLACEMENT/REFUND “Process” Extensive (Frustrating)- MUST be Returned for either a Replacement or Refund (Photos, Multiple Emails, Printing Label, Repackaging+Arrange Pick-Up or Drop at Drop box) = seems a LOT for an item I received in just a white plastic envelope without any packaging material. After suffering a patella track issue, I purchased a DonJoy Web Knee Support brace. Initially, I loved this brace, but during the 1st week my brace webbing broke (see photos), which was very disappointing and speaks of its lack of long-term reliability. The brace webbing seems unique to this DonJoy product. I found that the webbing offers a unique amount of support that feels as if it is much more efficient at keeping One’s kneecap/patella in place compared to other braces. This brace also offers the same common support as other braces, with the two (2) joint supporting ‘struts’ {?- not sure of their proper name} on each side of the knee. However, unlike many other side supports, this brace’s side supports are NOT metal, but made of plastic. I felt that the plastic supports seem to bulge out sideways whenever I bent my knee, which I didn’t like. I think the brace would be much better if the supports were metal and better limited the overall motion of the knee. This brace also includes a slip over the leg/knee cloth nylon? sleeve, used to offer a bit of compression possibly (not enough to be uncomfortable or really qualify as compression), but definitely helps maintain the webbing portion’s location, so it does not slide up or down, both of which I experienced while wearing the brace.I found I would end up tightening the brace when sitting and my knee was bent, and then that this brace would slip up or down when I would stand or I actively moved (I walked, not like I was doing anything athletic). While this brace is good compared to others so far as a kneecap/patella track issue (kneecap popping out of track). I do not think I would recommend this brace if looking for general knee support or a brace to limit knee morion. Also, I believe it is extremely Important the sizing is correct, and I would go so far as to recommend that you contact a local prosthetic or durable medical equipment company to see if they sell this device and ask them to measure you in person for it. You can always take those measurements or the size they tell you and then order the brace here on Amazon or wherever.POST SALES SUPPORTNote: I would be more understanding of the extensive “process” if I were filing months later. My issue was within the 1st week!SELLER: (Via E-mail):When I contacted Motion Store, the Seller, I was told they would be happy to process a replacement. However, after multiple emails, my taking requested photos attached. I now have to send the brace back for them to even replace the device, ridiculous! So, do NOT count on post sales support without jumping through multiple hoops! Being down sick w/a cold+on one foot (I deep sprained my ankle so in a different DonJoy (MaxTrax foot boot). So, I decided I was done with the whole pain the bum situation at this point. But, if I return this product, it won’t be for a replacement. It will now be for a full refund (& I won’t buy another DonJoy product ever!) I will update later if I go forward with the refund “process”.MANUFACTURER: (Via Phone)Spoke to DonJoy the brace Manufacturer. For Replacement or Refund, expect to be required that You provide photos, wait for a Return Request to be processed and You MUST return the product, They will provide a shipping label for the return if approved.Tip/My opinion: This item is considered “Durable Medical Equipment (DME)” by Insurance Companies, and should be covered by most Health Ins.Co’s fully or at a percentage. It’s worth a shot to call and ask them before paying for it yourself. May need Your Primary Doctor to order for you, but would be Free! Plus, If thru a local distributor then any return/replacement would be a heck of a lot easier!!The silicone web tore with in the first year of use. Not what one would expect for $100.I have severe arthritis in both knees, & nerve damage causing my right knee to collapse. I gave the brace five stars in every category, but the stability it provides depends on the cause of the problem with your knee. My orthodontist recommended the Don Joy brace three years ago, but told me because the knee’s instability was the result of nerve damage it would not prevent it from collapsing. When I don’t wear the brace, my knee collapses frequently, but less often when it’s on. I wear the Modvel knee brace/sleeve with the Don Joy brace instead of the thin nylon one that comes with the brace, & the two together improves my stability. The brace is the most comfortable of the five I’ve worn, & very flexible. When fitting the brace around your knee it’s important to make sure there’s no buckling in it, sitting or standing, on each side between the pins. This makes a difference in its support. The brace does reduce my pain/discomfort caused by arthritis, & so much so that I wear one on both knees.WORTH THE READ ***KNEE DISLOCATIONShave to write this review solely on the fact that THIS KNEE BRACE CHANGED MY LIFE. I have had at least 6 dislocations of my left knee and probably 20 subluxations. I did competitive cheerleading and dance my entire life - and never gave my knee time to heal after each dislocation. (Wasn’t allowed to even if I tried.. ) because of this I have irreversible damage. After several different orthos looked at my knee the final say was that I need complete knee reconstruction surgery. That’s not an option at this point in my life- I have 2 toddlers to chase around and take care of being a stay at home mom and was told it is up to an 18 month recovery time before I have full use of my knee.My knee problems were honestly causing depression.. I couldn’t even chase my kids at the playground to play with them.. I would be hobbling behind my husband.. I tried every knee brace on the market.. I stumbled across this one and figured I had nothing else to lose. Not only do I have constant knee pain- but I also have ptsd and the flash backs of some traumatic knee injuries were debilitating on some what of a normal basis. When I first put this knee brace it freaked me out a bit.. I don’t like anything hugging my knee cap and your knee cap literally is snug in this little rubber web.. after a few minutes of walking around.. I actually started to sob.. happy tears. That might sound funny to some people but I have lived the past 26 years of my 30 years on earth walking on egg shells and the past 4.5 years of my life.. playing with my children with caution.THIS KNEE BRACE IS LIFE CHANGING. NOT ONLY CAN I RUN AND PLAY WITH MY CHILDREN BUT I HAVE NO PAIN WHILE WEARING IT!! PLEASE GIVE THIS A SHOTI injured my knee with what is known as a "plant and twist" injury possibly tearing my ACL while on vacation. My son lent me his so I could fly home and I immediately ordered one for me, so I could return his .We have used this knee brace brace extensively in the past, and this purchase is for the second knee, which now is also getting old! This item was delayed by some weeks, but the vendor contacted us to explain that their supplier was out of stock, so at least we were kept informed.knee brace was smaller than expected and chaffed a lot, when requested larger sleeve size as too small was told to return whole item at my cost! This product is beyond my expectations - I have a ruptured ACL, 3rd degree MCL tear, LCL sprain, bucket handle tear to the meniscus and bone contusions. The larger hinged immobilizer from the same company was not cutting it as I am small. My knee was still not being supported against torsional movements and I was limping badly, throwing off all my body mechanics.I decided to give this a try. With and without the sleeve it holds my knee securely - I have not hyperextended or rotated my knee since I started using it. I don’t feel any abnormal movements in the knee while walking with this, in fact, I tend to forget I am wearing it until I go to walk downtairs since it is snug.I don’t feel any pain, only slight twinges when using it, but my knee is a mess awaiting surgery. It is not listed as being recommended for combined instabilities or severe ligament injuries so I do caution that you make the choice with your doctor or Physio. I am very active and have leg muscles that are supporting my knee so that it barely feels unstable when assessed by the surgeons. Nobody suspected any ligament tears at all until the MRI was done, it was thought to be perhaps a minor MCL sprain and meniscus tear.I would compare this to strapping a bunch of silicone bungee cords on the outside of your knee to replace the damaged ligaments inside until they can be fixed. The Velcro issues in much earlier comments appear to have been resolved, this is very comfortable and strong.I've been using the same DonJoy knee braces for two ski seasons totaling apx. 120 ski days. Some of the pivots are getting a little bit of play, and one of the plastic frame pieces had some visible fatigue in the middle which I reinforced with a lightweight piece of balsa wood and some duct tape. After something like 120 full ski days of use I'm quite impressed that is the extent of the wear and tear to these things.I wear them over my baselayer and the included knee sleeves, they stay in place during a full ski day. If it's cold enough for a midlayer then it can start feeling a little bulky with shell-midlayer-knee braces-baselayer but not enough to cause an issue.I haven't found that my range of motion is limited while alpine skiing or during occasional side-country type ski touring.I would definitely recommend these for alpine skiing and I would buy them again.Ordered the correct size as per the manufacturers specifications. Brace runs small and the knee cap opening doesn’t fit over the cap. Once adjusted properly the brace is very restrictive. Locks the knee in place and it is hard to bend naturally.Would be good for pain of arthritis though.Returning the unit is a problem though as this is not sold my Amazon. I have to pay for shipping ($22) back to the seller. Lesson learned only buy from Amazon.
