This collar has been great for my Boston Terrier so far. I love that it lays flat and the collar itself is very pliable and smooth so it does not irritate her like many other collars have in the past, with sharp or pointy threads/ stitches that wouldn't bother your average furry dog, but DO bother my Boston Terrier's thin and almost hairless under-neck. The collar is strong and has held up very well. I love how the tags end up sort of falling over her shoulder, since the weigh of the chain keeps the collar in a specific location at all times. She also uses this in and out of water and it dries nicely with no issue. It has also been strong enough to hold up to all her rough play with dogs triple her size (she's basically a 20 pound pitbull in her own mind) who LOVE to bite at collars.I give this collar four stars because INITIALLY, the chain was staining my dogs neck grey! (she has white fur there) and it was basically impossible to get out. With time however, it is no longer staining, and the grey has fallen out. We DO have her wear this 24/7, because it isn't an issue at all. I was also annoyed because the little metal tag clip that comes with it, while it IS easier to add/remove dog tags with, actually caused us to lose one of her dog tags! Since then we went back to using a regular key-chain ring.My dog and I like this collar a lot, but it runs a tad large. Her neck is almost 17," and this medium collar has to be adjusted as small as possible. Even then it is slightly too big on her. Otherwise it's a wonderful, well-made, unique collar. It works very well in its martingale role, and so far (going on two months of daily use for walks and training) the chain has not discolored her creamy fur at all. A major plus is that the collar has an extra leash ring, so when one is finished with the martingale chain ring, the leash snap can move to the other ring, allowing the collar to function simply as a flat collar. The deep-berry hues of the collar look pretty on her cream-color fur. I like the "tech" features as well. Ruffwear gear always looks ultra-cool, so this 63-yr-old grandmother loves it!Perhaps I should have ordered the small size, but how can a 55-lb dog need a small collar?Certainly I would buy it again, especially as I found it at a great price as an Amazon warehouse deal. My dog and I make it work.I purchased the size small for my female belgian malinois. I had to set this one as big as it goes. Its a tighter fit but she is short haired and a puller.Got the medium for my smaller-than-average male german shepherd. Set this one to only about half way. But hes really fluffy and not a puller. Both fit great. Comfortably loose with no chain hanging. And gets just tight enough to prevent escape.I like all the features. The tag silencer. The tag ring that is seperate from where you attach the leash. And the option to hook up as a regular collar. The only thing i would change is make the fabric part thicker and more durable. But otherwise i am very pleased with this purchase!Well, I wanted to like it, it seemed like a high quality product. I measured my dog's neck beforehand and it didn't work out anyway. The way the collar is designed, I can't cinch it up to her neck circumference, leaving it far too loose to use (more than a whole hand, not 2-3 fingers loose) so she could slip out anyway. The rubber logo is in the way, and would have been a pain to remove. I had to return it and find something else. Too bad, I liked the colour! I also didn't realize I would need a collar that has a buckle until I got a cloud collar for her, so this didn't end up working for me at all.MAKE SURE to check the measurements, if your pup's neck is in the range where it will need to be tightened more than an inch or so, the logo could block the black adjuster slide.I was looking for a martingale type of collar for my Smooth Collie. I liked the looks of this collar, and the fact that the main part of the collar was fabric with a chain martingale. The collar is everything I wanted, I choose the medium size for him, his neck is 14 inches and I did not want to be limited by the small collar. It is the perfect size for him. I really like the quality of the materials, the collar is very sturdy in its construction. It is easy to reduce the size of the collar or to make it larger. I really like the reflective trim, it's really bright at night when light hits it. I also like the silicone tag silencer. The only draw back is that Kody has a white ruff and the chain makes the hair gray. That was the reason I was looking for a fabric collar. I am hoping that this is only a temporary problem. This collar has been extremely helpful in preventing our pup from slipping her collar on walks, which was a problem we often had despite leash training. It's also great because it isn't too tight for our dog and is very easy to remove. We've used this collar daily for about 2 years now, and it has held up very well! While a bit dirty from use (but it can be washed fairly easily), it's still in great condition and is not fraying or degrading in any way. For context, we walk our dog daily and she often goes hiking or visits the dog park, so there are plenty of opportunities for wear and tear on the collar. We will definitely purchase a replacement when this one eventually wears out. Ruffwear is a great brand!I can't say how much I lovvvvve this collar! My dog is about 70 pounds but has a specially "little" head and has slipped out of many collars. After a few small heart attacks, I decided to get a martingale because I had heard great things. This collar has been wonderful! It is crazy durable, not a single slip out and very easy to use. We go to the lake often and have no issues with rust either. The color is also very striking and a bit more bold than the pictures, looks great against white fur :) The weirdest trait that I love is that when my little guy is wearing this around the house, the metal falls just under his neck so his dog tags are visible from the side. It was never something I expected to notice and appreciate but its a cute feature. I would certainly recommend!I love these collars; all of my past 6 german shepherds have these...People put them on tight like a normal Collar ... that’s not how they are meant to be used ...They are meant to be lose around the neck... and hang lose at the front - great for stopping collar marks in the hair. They should he difficult to get off but can slide off over the head without adjustment neededAnd when on the lead... when the collar is pulled right the chain should pull the fabric closes to a tight fit collar (not choke them out).Love the M green.... had the L orange but my boy not white big enough for it yet but kept it for when he is.This collar is well made and sturdy for a large dog and looks good. However, the collar did turn my dog's neck grey - not particularly worried about this but it's very noticeable on a pale coloured dog. Also, the ring that the identity disc goes on is a strange shape and when my dog ran past me, it caught on my jeans and pulled a big thread out of the fabric. Overall, all things considered, I would probably not purchase again. This is the second one we have bought. Lovely quality item. The measurements on the item are slightly out. We measured our Labrador and she needed the large size but when we got it it was a little on the large size. The medium collar’s upper measurement implied that the collar would be a little tight but it is a perfect fit. Other than that the collar is great.Good quality chain on the collar, nice and thick. I am not worried about this chain breaking like some cheaper alternatives on Amazon. However, it is very hard to make the collar tighter and looser. I have to tighten this collar once it is on my dog so that it fits correctly. Loosening it to take it off is a struggle. Fine if you have a patient dog but bit of pain nonetheless. The material used in the collar is thin, I expected a sturdier looking product for the price of £ 29.99.Visually the collar looks nice, no complaints there.I have added a photo of the Ruff Wear product compared to a similar unbranded product I bought six years ago at Pets At Home for one third of the price.Time will tell how this product will hold up in comparison.I will not be recommending the product to friends and family with dogs as it is not good value for money.
