Bosselaar is the real deal--a poet with passion and song that lifts off the page. Her poems in this collection warm and chill me at the same time in their invocation of a childhood in the shadow of a world torn apart by the racial hatred and cultural conflict of WWII. Some of the images will haunt me forever. I'll also not quickly forget her startling rendering of a child's longing for simple acts of love.
